Day 27 & 28 - The Storm

TUESDAY: Typhoon Pedring stormed Manila and hit my area real bad. Roxas Boulevard was destroyed. More importantly, my momentum in cleaning my place. Tuesday broke my mall schedule to go get more boxes to stack all my other stuff that should be given away. It should be scary really, as the typhoon storm signal hit number 3 and everything was being cancelled— flights, school, work. You know it’s something serious when work gets cancelled. There was even a moment where I got trapped inside my condo because I couldn’t open the door! The wind was pulling it back and I had to consoled myself not to panic. The fact that there was also no electricity added to the terror. But I am a Filipino and I am a natural crisis manager. So I chose to lie on my bed and slightly opened my window to feel the howling winds of the storm.

WEDNESDAY: I woke up early and still no electricity. Fernando was kind to have slept over and accompanied me through the night. Today, I decided against nature to do an early morning jog because the storm just passed and I know the weather is perfect. Well it was. But oh my god. The jogging turned into sightseeing walking through the cracked pavements and devastated seawalls of bay walk. The news on TV (yes electricity was back) showed documented devastations to the extent of Ondoy and it was so surreal to see it for myself. I continued to CCP and found maybe a couple more people jogging. This is usually crowded time for the joggers. But hey, there was a storm.

In other news, I continued doing a little more housework (if you can call sorting and throwing stuff in a box such). The storm clearly slowed me down and distracted my momentum but i think there’s some progress to note here.
